Behind the Brand

LUUM’s primary mission is to minimize the home cleaning routine by creating simpler, smarter products. Because when cleaning is more enjoyable, your life and home feel a little bit brighter – which is why they chose the name “LUUM”, short for “luminate”.

So to align with that mission, our goal was to incorporate elements in the design that conveyed the sun/light while also maintaining a very minimal aesthetic. We also wanted the brand to come across as high-end with a hint of playfulness to help establish the place in the industry that LUUM wanted to fill.

Our final brand direction included an icon that perfectly captured everything that we wanted to accomplish. The circle in the icon represents a sun, connecting to the inspiration behind the name “LUUM”. The lower shapes are meant to represent mountains, which creates a scene of the sun rising above the landscape. Building an Online Experience

Since LUUM goes against the norm for home cleaning products, we knew that their website needed to clearly communicate how the product works and why it’s a better solution than the traditional cleaning sprays many people are used to. We wanted to make sure that people didn’t feel intimidated at the thought of changing their routine – we wanted LUUM’s products to feel like an easy transition to a more minimal and sustainable home.

We built their website on Shopify using the Palo Alto theme and added custom code to make it feel aligned with their branding. Then we added some custom-built sections to the theme that would allow LUUM to present information about their product’s benefits and ingredients in a more engaging way.
