  • How I Got Here

Hi, I’m Abbey and I’m the designer behind Wayfarer. I knew that I wanted to be a designer when I was 13 because I was obsessed with changing the layout of my MySpace page. I never doubted that it was my calling, but running my own studio wasn’t really part of my plan. When I was about to graduate from college, I wanted to work at a small agency, work my way up from there and maybe go out on my own one day after years and years of experience. I felt really comfortable with that plan, it seemed like the safe and responsible way to start my career. But life took a beautifully unexpected turn when my then boyfriend, Tanner, proposed and asked me to travel the world with him for his job. Surprise – I said yes.

We planned our wedding in a month and then moved to Australia the day after my college graduation. It was by far the craziest thing I’ve ever done, but it all unfolded so perfectly. Just like how I had always known that I was supposed to be a designer, I knew that I was supposed to go on this crazy adventure with Tanner. And even more, all of that pushed me to start my own studio so that I can still do what I love while we travel. The universe knew that I needed a push to start Wayfarer and boy, did it give me one! Now, we’re over a year into this new life and business and it’s been the most incredible journey. I’m exactly where I need to be, doing what I love and I can’t wait to see where the universe pushes me next.
